Improving flexion in standing with some active movement is allowed (usually post-surgically) but because of weakness and load restriction you need assistance. Also hlepful when you are not allowed to lift the arm into flexion by itself. The pole helps you lift the arm so it is not completely active and there is some but mimimal load through the injured side. |
In standing, grab the pole evenly in both hands. Lift the pole above you so it goes to about head height. Then lower slowly again. As you get better you can increase the height above your head.
Special NotesYou can angle the pole to avoid abduction so your injured shoulder is more externally rotated. See the education video for more info. |
